Question

How do I access the full text of an item?

Accessing the full text of an item from the library catalogue depends on the type of material and the access permissions associated with it.

Here’s how it works:

Available Online (Library Access Only): Some materials, while marked ‘Available Online’, can only be accessed within the library due to licensing or copyright restrictions. These resources require you to use a library computer or connect to the library’s Wi-Fi on-site to view the full text. Only select databases, like HeinOnline and Rangefindr, are accessible off-site. For more details visit the Great Library's eResources page.

Direct Access (e.g., LSO CPD Programs): Certain resources, such as LSO Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs, are available directly through the library catalogue. Click the ‘Digital Version’ link under ‘Availability’ to open the content - no additional login is required.

Print Only: If a resource is only available in print, you’ll need to visit the library to view the full text. If you're unable to visit the library, you may request specific sections via our document delivery service. Click here to learn more.

If you’re unsure about the access level or encounter issues, check the item’s full record for access notes, or contact library staff for assistance.
